About this deal

So tell me something, does that give your gorgeous, polished, superficially smart trust fund babe a right to insult me? Simply cause she feels like it? Simply cause she feels she’s superior? Kofi Danquah is a brilliant young footballer, from a family of cocoa bean farmers, based in Ghana. The story begins with him being offered a place to play for a Premier League team in England. But when he reaches the UK, all is not as he expected. In a chance meeting he comes across Danny Harte, the football detective. Danny tries to help Kofi. But things get worse. Much worse. And Kofi is left to wonder if he’d have been better off without Danny’s help, as Danny goes deeper into the football underworld than he has ever been to try and save Kofi, Holt and himself. Until one of his team mates starts to rub Ryan the wrong way about Danny accusing him of going slumming. Everyone starts laughing hysterically, myself included. But I do give an inner smirk to myself and just shake my head....

A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately played* the ball, including by deliberate handball, is not considered to have gained an advantage, unless it was a deliberate save by any opponent. I can see the waitress appoaching from the corner of my eye but I don't look up as I am perilously close to breaking my high score. She stands there for several seconds while the conversation rages on, patiently waiting for a break in the expenditure of brain cells. When no one pauses to even take a breath, she gives a little clearing sound with her throat. The following criteria should be used, as appropriate, as indicators that a player was in control of the ball and, as a result, can be considered to have ‘deliberately played’ the ball: Their story is cute, the banter between them is hilarious, and the spice is 👌🏻, but the book took a hot minute to get into and I almost DNF. Plus the whole Luke/Kristen drama was a little over the top for me, and felt too drawn out. Overall though, I ended up loving it once it Danny and his friends Paul and Charlotte live in an unnamed British City and are all enthusiastic followers of their football club, City F.C. Kofi grows up thousands of miles away in the Ghanaian city of Kumasi. When Kofi, a promising footballer, is brought to City F.C. under false pretences by a cheating football agent, the lives of the four youngsters intertwine. Will Danny, Paul and Charlotte be able to save their much-loved football club from a hostile takeover? And will Kofi be accepted by City F.C. and manage to fulfil the burning hopes his family have for him? This is more than just a fast-paced novel about football. It is a novel which touches on many important subjects – injustice and poverty, friendship and dreams, relationships between different countries, corporate business and people power. This novel is so good all children should read it, not just young football fans!” Sebastian Westwood, Redhouse Book kids reviewer

A midfielder (Team A) passes the ball back to a defender (Team A). The defender gains control of the ball but, before he/she plays the ball, an opposing player (Team B) came from an offside position, made a challenge and intercepted the ball. What is the referee’s decision?

She gives her head a small shake in the negative which makes me grin at her. She wants my touch as much as I want to give it. Like at what point does it get only a little exiting? All I’m asking for it a 0.5 effort. Chase loans her family money and he has to make it up for her. “You know, I’m pretty mad” bailey says as she smiles. NOT EVEN A THANK YOU. She never tried to get a job, she just kept drinking her vanilla latte and let chase pay for everything while using a victim coat every chance she could get. This is not what i look for or want to recognize in a female character. Like the bar for her was so low, everything made her sad and she needed to be taken care of etc etc. that’s usually something i would enjoy in a book, even prefer. So use your fantasy to imagine how tame it was handled in this book. God was it traumatizing to read. Anything traumatized this girl, willingly going into a sex store? Left a dent in her soul apparently. She was just so boring in the relationship. Nothing exciting ever. Chase was the star of the book for me. He’s funny, filthy, protective and honestly hot af. Everything else just felt very drawn out yet not quite fully flushed out. I still enjoyed it because I really do like character driven novels focused on the couple, and I’m down to try the next book in the series when it comes out.

I also didn’t like how there were so many loose ends with Luke. Like wtf did he even want? He dumped her? Why was he stalking her, what was his motivation to split them up? More insight on that situation would have been good. Ryan: "Last night was amazing. It was one of the greatest sexual experience of my life and I didn't even get off." Eventually he comes crawling to her telling her that although they are different he wants to be with her and doesn’t care what anyway says about it. any part of the head, body or feet is nearer to the opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent

Danny... my parents wouldn't like you. I am so ashamed to say that they will judge you because you look different than them and you don't come from money. They won't even bother trying to look at all of the amazing things that I see in you. And I'm so sorry for that because they'll never know what a fantastically amazing woman you are.” There were the typical villains; evil manipulative mother scorned, an ex-girlfriend, and a violent team member. All of these characters plot to break up the lovebirds.

I was asked to review this by Sarah at book rabbit ,she knows i love football so said yes have also been looking for a young adult to read and this was perfect i sat and read it in a few hours ,what tom has done is wonderfully summed up major concerns in world football for kids with out talking down to them ,this book should be given to any young boy that likes football but not reading it is vibrant and gives people a view in to the darker side of football .there is also the undercurrent of fairtrade to get kids think about where things come from .a lovely book this is out this month from puffin .” http://winstonsdad.wordpress.com/2010/05/06/off-side-by-tom-palmer/ I’m not from the upper class, if anything i may belong to lower middle class, so I don’t roll on trust fund money. I am not awfully smart, I never passed philosophy 101. I’m on the average side of intelligence.Another thing was that I really wanted to see Christmas at the James family house, considering how that was a plot device 2/3’s into the book, but again I haven’t read the bonus chapters yet so it’ll probably be in there (fingers crossed). Full of drama, this is a fast moving crime thriller of football, corruption and clever detective work. Danny Harte is a passionate City FC football fan. He is also a very keen detective. With rumours flying around that City FC is up for sale, Danny sets about trying to find out what is going on. His sleuthing leads him to find Kofi, a young player from Ghana who has been duped by a crooked agent. Helped by a local journalist, Danny sets about setting things right but, in doing so, he finds himself in the greatest danger!” Julia Eccleshare www.lovereading4kids.co.uk/book/5378/Foul-Play-Off-Side-by-Tom-Palmer.html Around our neighbourhood there are some brilliant book lovers and they like our selections," Fatma added. a player in an offside position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offence
